My Falling Through the Ice Experience
Anytime the ice cracks it's scary. Being alone makes it even more so.
You don't even hear the crack till you're in. THAT'S what's scary. I've grown older and wiser and pick my trips accordingly now.
What a gut punch. Keep on surviving Irv!
And hopefully getting smarter.
Glad you managed to survive! Hopefully, no more canoeing for you in THAT kind of river situation!
That was an early winter canoeing adventure and probably my first solo trip. I've learned much since then. Including how to watch the water for signs that the window to paddle is closing.
Glad to know that was a learning experience for the future. Brrrr!
It all is. Of course, it’s not for everybody. The upside is, it’s not for mosquitoes.
That's nature saying......"Hey dumbass, you don't go canoeing in the winter."
Or, as one canoe livery owner told us, “That’s a skill set very few people would find useful.”
